Tiffany Haddish and Asante Blackk star as mother and son in the new science fiction drama Landscape With Invisible Hand, inspired by M.T. Anderson’s novel. The film arrives in theaters on August 18.
The story unfolds years after a seemingly benevolent alien occupation of Earth. Humanity struggles to adapt under the rule of the Vuvv, small yet powerful extraterrestrials whose dazzling technology once promised global prosperity but ultimately destroyed job markets and stable income.
Seventeen-year-old artist Adam Campbell (Asante Blackk) and his new girlfriend Chloe Marsh (Kylie Rogers) find themselves caught in this strange economy. When they learn the Vuvv are fascinated by human romance and willing to pay for access to it, the couple begins livestreaming their relationship to earn money for their families.
“Life is good, for a while,” the story notes, until the pair’s romantic spark fades and they face peculiar, life-changing decisions in order to survive.
The film is produced by Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner, with Brad Pitt, Gabby Shepard, David Kern, M.T. Anderson, Megan Ellison, and Tiffany Haddish serving as executive producers.
This film blends satire and emotional drama, exploring how love, desperation, and survival intertwine under an alien-controlled economy.
