Beloved Chef’s New Sydney Venue Promises to Blow You Away

The British chef famed for his affinity for linen and sauvignon blanc is launching his Australian flagship.

Rick Stein’s Australian Metro Debut

The date is set: Rick Stein’s first metro restaurant in Australia opens on December 1. Known for enjoying a good glass (or three) of pinot or sauvignon blanc, the charming British chef will unveil his eagerly awaited Sydney diner.

Located above the sands of Coogee, within the extensively renovated InterContinental Hotel, [translate:Rick Stein At Coogee] will serve as the local flagship for Stein and his wife, Sarah. They also run regional New South Wales restaurants at Bannisters by the Sea in Mollymook and Bannisters Port Stephens.

“Sydney’s Coogee Beach is the perfect location for our flagship Australian restaurant,” Stein said. “It’s relaxed yet sophisticated, with that incredible connection to the ocean that has always inspired my cooking. For us, this feels like coming home.”

Menu and Experience

The inaugural menu, crafted under head chef Colin Chun (formerly of W Taipei), will highlight local, seasonal seafood. The venue is designed to accommodate both casual and upscale dining, complemented by an adjacent bar.

Bookings are now available at ricksteinatcoogeebeach.com.au.
