Connection with Robert Irwin
In an interview with Us Weekly, Carson spoke about her partnership with Robert Irwin and their easy chemistry on the show. She recalled their instant connection, saying she immediately felt affection and familiarity when working with him.
“I had flashbacks of when he was little, so I just felt immediately connected to him, and I just wanted to pinch his cheeks,” Carson said. “I just couldn’t stop hugging him. I was like, ‘This is so perfect.’ I couldn’t have wished for a better partner.”
Robert Irwin’s Experience
Robert, continuing the legacy of his late father Steve Irwin and his sister Bindi Irwin, described joining the competition as a dream realized. Bindi previously won Season 21 of the show in 2015 with Derek Hough — a milestone that motivated Robert to step into the ballroom years later.
“I feel like this is such a dream come true, such a full-circle moment, 10 years after being in the ballroom with Bindi, to now be here with you,” he shared. “I first met [Witney] when I was this big with a little bowl cut.”
Learning the Art of Dance
Despite having no formal dance background, Robert’s passion and optimism quickly won fans over. He credited Witney for helping him adapt to the show’s challenges.
“Honestly, Witney’s just been incredible,” he said. “It’s such a huge learning curve because I’ve never done anything like this. I’ve never done anything close to dancing.”
