Lewis Moody, 47, the legendary former England rugby captain, made a heartfelt return to Twickenham after revealing his diagnosis with motor neurone disease (MND) last October.
Moody was met with a thunderous standing ovation from 82,000 supporters as he carried out the match ball before England's 25-7 victory over Australia. The crowd stood throughout his appearance, with stadium boards displaying the message: “We are all with you Lewis.”
Accompanied by his wife Annie and their teenage sons, Dylan and Ethan, Moody received a warm embrace from England prop Ellis Genge on his way to the pitch center. This marked Moody's second public appearance since going public with his life-limiting neurological condition.
After England’s win, Moody joined players Guy Pepper and Sam Underhill in the victorious dressing room and addressed the squad and coaching staff, further cementing his ongoing connection with the team.
